Has curiosity died?

I’m not the oldest person in the world, so I cannot accurately comment on the differences between  the nature of people now and 50 or 100 years ago, but I do feel like past generations had a stronger desire to learn and experience life. People, in a sweeping generalization, are much to predisposed to accept the conditions of their life, their knowledge base, and the things they have experienced. We accept not knowing the back story or the how and the why. We accept circumstances for how they are and lack the enthusiasm to either attempt to create change or even understand the reasons behind them. Even the people with the basic curiosity to figure out the ins and outs or with a simple discontentment with much of anything, are void of the willpower to do anything about it. I think of the big problems behind these decline is a decline of curiosity.

If we do not know the how and the why, we are less inclined to question the appropriateness, justness or desirability of any given circumstance or condition. My solution : Explore Your World.

Take a step in a new direction. Take a different route home. Try a different flavor at your favorite drink stop. If you come across a word or term you don’t know, look it up. Travel. Listen to a different radio station in the morning. Have sex in a different position. Go to your local art or music events if you don’t already and if you do mix it up and pick a type that isn’t typical of you. Say hello to a stranger, unless they look like they’d stab you. Maybe if people start getting some new experiences, they’ll start questioning or at least thinking about the ones they are used to. A lot of cities and towns and people seem to be much more stressed and angry and overall unhappy than is necessary. More than makes sense. And a majority of these such people don’t realize they aren’t as happy as they could be or just assume that they can’t reach anything else.

So try something new. Live a little. Explore your world.
